Originally intended as a short three or four part series of blog entries about my misadventures in pop music fandom at the dawn of the 1980s, it soon became clear that I had far more than a couple of thousand words to tell and that furthermore what I had to say seemed to be of interest to more people than simply those who had been Toyah obsessives such as myself. The experience of being a compulsive fan seems to be a universal one, whoever the object of your infatuation.

Toyah interview 1987

Shortly after I started running Toyah's fan club I recorded an interview with her. This was not printed in the fan club magazine - it was used as part of my "audio portfolio" for my attempts at getting a job in radio. In it she talks candidly about Cabaret, Three Men on Horse and Desire.
